According to its definition in About.com. Brick 'n Mortar Stores refers to retail shops that are located in a building as opposed to an online shopping destination, door-to-door sales, kiosk or other similar site not housed within a structure.
All the while, I'm thinking they are just small and hardly known stores. The brick and mortar has something to do with its location actually.
