What Typhoon Pedring Taught Me?

Yes! Everyone in the Philippines, even abroad knew Pedring. It's a force of nature that has wrecked hundreds of houses/businesses including ours.

I actually want to post some pictures of our house but I've decided not to as I write this post. I just thought that the face of this tremendous event that happened to us last Tuesday morning resembles what's in the news. Everyone has seen the same pictures and have uttered, "kawawa naman sila". It's no big deal. No one will be surprised.

Instead of complaining of what Pedring has brought us, I've also decided to list down the things I should be thankful for and learned after this tragedy. This is my way of moving on and also, getting ready for another possible disaster that might come soon.

From loving and treating the trees right to how to handle people and such events, I think I've learned a lot.

1. Everything happens on God's chosen time. The mango tree that fell on our house is too old. Since I was six, my grandmother has been complaining about the leaves falling on our roof and backyard. That tree is our neighbors'. I'm at my thirties now and my grandma has gone the fight to have it cut. My dad have also filed complaints but nobody from our neighbor's side took it seriously until this tragedy happened. The tree finally sets its verdict on our wall. That tree might be much older that I'am and it has been laid to rest. So bad that it left us a huge mark.

2. Thank God, nobody's hurt. Despite of this misfortune, I truly thank God because nobody is hurt. The broken things are being fixed now.

3. No more falling leaves. The falls inside our house each time it rains has been a way of life for us. Every three years, we are replacing our "nabulok na bubong", apply Vulcasil once in a while but in the past five years, we have settles on just getting "timba" and "palangana" to catch the water. While this is one of the reasons I hate rain, I realized that the tree is gone now. Now, I can enjoy the rain without worrying about things that might get wet.

4. Only some people care. It was a rainy and dark morning of Tuesday when one of our neighbors knocked and informed us about the tree's threat of possibly falling on our wall. When I went out to look at how close it is, I saw a lot of bystanders looking at the tree and talking with each other. Each time the wind blows, you will hear them yelling. It's actually annoying because no one bothered to take the initiative to at least refrain it from falling, even the owner of the tree.

5. Everyone needs help. I must thank the Action Center of Valenzuela for taking action on cutting the branches of the tree and prevented it from seriously damaging the entire house on the day it fell. But only this morning, they were able to cut the trunks. What a heck! Yet I learned that everybody needs help. I'm thankful that we've been saved at the time we needed help.

6. Don't expect people to be concerned. I must say that the owner of the tree has demonstrated a rude and unacceptable behavior on the day the tree fell and on the next day. After several knocks at their door, she finally took the guts to face what's her property has damaged us. It's so sad! She did not even asked if anyone is hurt.

Life is not fair. We may meet few people that would test our faith in God, hurt our principles in life and take our patience but we should not stumble. Instead, we should show grace, strength and fight for our right! This incident has thought me a lot of things. And has made me realized in a tragedy, there can be opportunity. And most importantly, no one can give you justice if you don't seek/ask for it.

NEVER EVER CHECK-IN IN FATIMA HOSPITAL VALENZUELA

I was supposed to be sleeping now but I'm still awake. My Right to Vote and Extended Poll

I'm so happy that I was able to exercise my right to vote for the third time. I admit, I was a bit nervous thinking that the PCOS machine might night be able to read my ballot. But it was successfully registered. And it only took me less than 5 minutes to complete the automated voting.

I'm really excited of who will be the next person to lead our country. Whoever wins... I just hope and pray that it's the will of God. I voted from the heart.

The poll located in my blog's sidebar is extended until tomorrow so please cast your vote...

New Year's Resolution

I'm not a firm believer of New Year's resolutions since most of the time, I tend to neglect them. While I do believe that if you want something to be done, you have to make it happen! The keys in achieving goals are not just about listing down all the things that you want to achieve but by focusing, giving your heart and readying yourself to the many challenges that will come along your way in your way.

So... I would like to give a new meaning to some of the famous New Year's resolution.

1. Instead of working hard to getting into shape this year, I will try to live a healthier lifestyle.

2. Instead of getting into more organized, I will try to make time for my self. I've devoted so much time in my work last 2009, it's time to spare some time for my self.

3. Instead of getting/changing a job, I will make sure that I will stand out in my current job. For me, all jobs are just the same everyday. What important is I'm happy and I'm learning and earning well...

4. Instead of keeping a check on expenses & pay down debt, I will try to buy a new house for my family. Thus, this means more expenses and debts for this year!!!

5. Instead of finding a new mate, I will work on my marriage this year! It's now or never!

While the next lines have been used over and over again, I would still love to work on it this year.

- Learn something new. I'm thinking about baking and photography.
- Helping Others / Doing Service to the Society. I should be more active this year. Blogs are great channels for this cause.
- Enjoy More and Travel More. Of course!

And more goals...
- Spend more time in blogging
- Focus more on business
- Avoid too much sleeping
- Focus more on my spiritual growth
- Study again
- Spend more time in reading books

Life is full of surprises and no one gets out alive. And they say that great curtains should not be used during special occasions only and beautiful dresses should be best worn at all times. Enjoy every moment of your journey and life would be easy. You only need to set your goals and the rest is about working on it fairly. Do what makes you happy and learn to be thankful with the blessings that God is giving you!

Decide for Me

These past few weeks, I've been having a hard time deciding for something that I really want to do ever since I was a child. The opportunity has finally come but doing it has a much greater risk - and that is losing the one I love so dearly.

To my desperation, I looked for some online help and I found this www.decidefor.us. It's an online crystal ball that tells your future. Yah, it's really weird of me but at times that God is still contemplating about his response to my prayers and because I'm too impatient for HIS answer, I decided to try my luck here.

I don't know if it really helped but I'm exhaustedly torn between going for a while and staying...

Oh! How I wish that God would give me his response today. Please Lord.

reminiscing....

It's already 12 midnight but I can't still sleep. So I decided to get my laptop and start posting something about the things that I own.

When I was in my high school years, I can't remember owning something I bought. Well aside from I don't have a job, it was also during those years that we're experiencing a financial crisis. From shoes to bags, those were just borrowed or given by my sisters. Until I went to college, I'm trying to save some from my allowances to buy my own stuff, only to realize that I only have a pair of shoes and one bag.

Feeling so misfortune, I told myself that I will have all the things that my heart's desire when I get a job. While finding my first job has not been easy, luckily I found one with just a very very good compensation. A great opportunity for first-timers like me. Well.. I won't mention the exact figures but to give you a hint, my tax every 15th and 30th ranges from 3K to 7K (max). Guess?

So, it was during that time, I got the money to buy the things I owe myself for the past years. I bought a pair of shoes from my first salary .=) I was also able to eat in sophisticated restaurants, be able to hang up with friends and most of all, provide for my family. But that was just for a while, the company closed after almost 2 years of operation.

So I got my second job and lucky I am again, the compensation is really good (not as good as the first).

So...

Just recently, I moved my shoes and bags to their own cabinet. Yes, I fulfilled my promise. Because I have so many bags and shoes excluding those that has been given away, I need to move them to their own place. =)

As of this writing, I have, I think 23 pair of shoes comprising of rubber shoes, sandals, office shoes, flipflops and boots. I now also have 18 bags including those that has been given to me as a gift. For the watch, I now also have 7 branded watches and other pieces of jewelry such as bracelets, necklaces and earrings.

While I can now buy anything I want, I still consider the budget and its importance and use. I'm really glad that God has given me the chance to have those that I once dreamed of...thanks to him!

recharged

after a week of not-so-much complete rest, I then decided to go back online and post again. I dunno but the last week has been so hectic and somewhat devastating. I received a couple of bad news that made me worried and paranoid, I guess! But that thing is over now... I would like to have a fresh start of everything before the week is through.

a silent prayer for the 9-11 tragedy

It has been six years since the 9-11 attack. Six years of life-filled questions for the victims and their families. After 6 years of this tragic event, nothing left but survival stories and bitter memories.

I won’t talk about the event itself now coz everything has been uttered and cried out! All I have inside me is a silent prayer of continuous survival for the rest of the victims and the families that lost their loved ones in the most catastrophic terrorism attack in history of mankind. I pray for those people who have thought this plan and made it happened. Lastly, I pray for all of us that the Good Lord would still bless and guide us to attain the peaceful world we’ve always wanted. Amen.

copy & paste my life...

I've been writing for sometime now, I meant technical writing. I used to hold pencil, colored pens and now the keyboard in front of me. As I looked back in my writing career, I came to realized that the technology has stolen my capacity to hold those old writing tools. I must also say that I don't have great technical writing abilities since I'd rather choose writing free verse and simple poems, short stories and other essays. I remembered joining in some contests during my premier and secondary years, that’s really awesome! I got my first trophy when I was in sophomore and from then on, I committed myself into writing for our school paper, of which I didn't have the chance to be a part of. "Nag sa-submit lang ako with my aliases"

Back into the reality, I'm now focus on writing technical contents for various websites I optimize. Cars, pets, and advertisings are just some of the "interesting" topics I normally wrote... That's what I always tell to myself, Interesting, isn't it? Then I caught myself in a series of references copied from the www to my Word processor. Read it, copy a part of it and have it rewritten with an advertising sound.

I don't know if I could turn back those enthusiasm days that I would hold a pen again and start to write something on a paper. It's always the start that gives me a hard time. I've been with my pc all day long and the commands, copy (ctrl+C) and paste (ctrl+V) have been my company in doing my work.

Again, ending this post has never been easier. I simply have that same feeling that it should have a remarkable closure just like the stories I used to write. I just can't find that perfect word. Maybe, a wish for my self will do. I wish I could have those early days of my life copied and have it pasted on a clean new paper of today. So that’s it! A far of technical writing and dreaming poems… this a post composed by my heart.
