It’s October once again and this is the month for all beer drinkers. In the Philippines, Oktoberfest is a month-long celebration wherein beers are the main highlight of the event while drinkers from different parts of the world have their own ways to celebrate this significant and most exciting celebration of the year.
Originated in Munich, Bavaria Germany, Oktoberfest is a two-week festival held during late September and early October. Traditionally, this famous event is celebrated for 16 days up to and including the first Sunday of October.
The first ever Oktoberfest took place on October 12, 1810 to commemorate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
Almost two centuries had passed and Oktoberfest is still one of the much awaited events of the year. Only this time that it is a celebration of over-flowing beer for beer drinkers. In the Philippines, there’s a countdown prior to this event and is being celebrated across the entire archipelago. The Philippine Oktoberfest starts every first of October and ends thirty days later. The event is marked by concerts and parties normally sponsored by the top two beer companies in the Philippines, San Miguel Corporation and Asia Brewery.
This year, the countdown began last September 28 and was jam-packed with the country’s hottest bands as well as all-time and celebrated drinkers. Metrowalk, Ortigas sparked this event along with other venues in Davao and other parts of the Philippines.
Get ready for the next kick off party. Just a BOLD reminder:: DRINK MODERATELY!
